HSE Staff Among Winners of Leaders of Russia 2022
Egor Prokhin, Research Fellow at the Centre for Comprehensive European and International Studies (CCEIS), HSE Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, and Valentin Novikov, Professor at the Joint Department with the Nesmeyanov Institute of Organoelemental Compounds, Russian Academy of Sciences, the Faculty of Chemistry, have won the Super Final of the fourth Leaders of Russia competition—a flagship project aimed at selecting Russia's presidential talent pool.
Over 180,000 managers from Russia and abroad took part in the fourth Leaders of Russia competition. Three hundred participants from 56 regions of Russia and six foreign countries (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Poland, Estonia, France, and the UAE) made it to the Super Final. One hundred and six people became winners.

‘The most challenging and exciting part of the competition was solving various cases as a team, both in the regional final and in the Super Final. The cases contained the most pressing tasks for the development of Russia's regions and leading companies,’ said Egor Prokhin. ‘At the end of the four-day Super Final, there was an awards ceremony, where I learned I was one of the winners. I am very glad I had such an opportunity to meet many talented people from different regions of Russia and other countries. It's been a pleasure to work with them.’
Valentin Novikov
Valentin Novikov says that the competition brought together representatives of different professions and fields. ‘During the final of the “Science” track, we met researchers, teachers, and representatives of high-tech businesses—from start-ups to large corporations. The Super Final brought together different people—you could find yourself sharing a table with the mayor of a small town, a trade union leader of a large corporation, a department head at a big bank, a chief doctor of a large hospital, a financier with twenty years of experience in state administration, and a chief designer of small modular reactors,’ says Valentin Novikov. ‘I think the main outcome of the Super Final for me is that I’m now a member of a community of three hundred educated, smart and talented people with a very broad set of knowledge and skills. And those who didn’t win are also part of this community. I know that if I don’t have enough knowledge in some area, all I need to do is call someone from this community and say, “You and I participated in Leaders of Russia,” and I am sure they will help me.’
The supervisory board that assessed and selected the winners of the Super Final included Mikhail Shvydkoy, Special Presidential Representative for International Cultural Cooperation; Valery Fadeev and Vladimir Tolstoy, advisers to the President of the Russian Federation; Mikhail Gusman, First Deputy General Director of TASS; Svetlana Zhurova, State Duma Deputy; Alexei Nemov, Vice President of the Russian Gymnastics Federation; Zelfira Tregulova, CEO of the Tretyakov Gallery, and others.
We congratulate our colleagues on their victory and wish them future success!
