HSE Tops the Ranking of Universities Leading in Technology Entrepreneurship
HSE University has taken a leading position in the university ranking prepared by the 'Expert' analytical centre. The ‘Techpred-50’ ranking evaluates the success of educational institutions in training founders of technology startups over the period from 2014 to 2023. HSE University has entered the Top-3, alongside MIPT and Moscow State University.
The ranking grades universities according to several key indicators, including the number of local and international startups launched by graduates, the volume of attracted investment, as well as support for startups at the development stage. HSE scored the maximum rates in most parameters, which helped the university to top the ranking.
According to the ranking, HSE graduates have significantly influenced the creation of technology startups both in Russia and abroad. The university leads in the number of founded startups that operate both locally and internationally. Out of the startups listed in the ranking, HSE graduates founded 44.7% local and 82% international ones.
These numbers confirm that the university not only trains highly qualified specialists, but also contributes to their career development on global markets.
In addition, HSE University took first place in terms of attracted investment. According to the ranking, startups founded by HSE graduates attracted the largest investments both in roubles at the local level and in dollars for international projects.
In recent years, the university has consistently developed programmes aimed at supporting technology entrepreneurship. It creates conditions for the development of startups, offers acceleration programmes and cooperates with venture funds and business incubators. The university provides students with unique opportunities to implement their projects, offering them access to expert support, financing, and the development of entrepreneurial competencies.

The ranking, compiled by the ‘MBA in Moscow and Russia’ web portal, was based on the assessment of graduates of MBA and Executive MBA programmes. This year, 1,290 graduates from 35 business schools in Russia participated in the survey.

Following the results of the 5th round of the ‘Student Startup’ competition, 32 HSE University students emerged as winners. Twelve students submitted applications in the ‘H1. Digital Technologies’ category with the support of the Faculty of Computer Science Entrepreneurs Club.
‘Making Useful Acquaintances Quickly and Easily’
From the very beginning of their university years, HSE students start to develop their own start-up ideas. As a result, three graduates of the bachelor’s programme in Software Engineering of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science—Andrey Losyukov, Timofey Valov, and Alexander Kulakov—created the HiBye platform for networking at events. The students presented their project and discussed their start-up with the HSE News Service.
HSE University Leads the AI Alliance Ranking
The AI Alliance Russia has released a new ranking of Russian universities based on the quality of education in the field of AI. Similar to last year, HSE University has joined the leaders in A+ group alongside MIPT and ITMO. A total of 207 universities from 69 Russian regions participated in the ranking. In 2024, over 35,000 students were enrolled in AI-related programmes at these universities.

Forbes Education has released a new ranking of the top 20 Russian universities with the most trusted degrees, based on a survey of the country's leading companies. HSE University tops the list, followed by Lomonosov Moscow State University, Saint Petersburg State University, and Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

The RAEX agency has published the subject rankings of Russian universities in 2024. According to the research, HSE University came first in 13 subjects and leads in five disciplines.

HSE University has improved its position in the recently published Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Ranking, rising from 98th to 87th place. This is the best position among Russian universities. Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, holds first place.

The Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) has presented an analytical report entitled 'Electronic Internationalisation Ranking of Russian Universities (2023).' One of its components is a ranking of English-language websites of Russian universities, with HSE University maintaining the top position.
HSE University among Top Universities in Digital Economy
HSE University took second place in the new 2023 ranking of universities in the digital economy in Moscow and St Petersburg, having lost only to Bauman Moscow State Technical University. HSE University outperformed specialised IT universities such as Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (third place) and ITMO University (fifth place), as well as Moscow State University (fourth place).
HSE Student Develops Platform for Online Physical Training
A student of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science and a team of like-minded people have created Fora.Vision, a startup platform for conducting remote physical training lessons in schools and universities. The computer vision-based system automatically counts the number of completed exercises and displays students’ progress in the teacher's personal account.
