Bachelor’s Programme in Economics Accredited by ICAEW
On October 31st, 2017, the bachelor’s programme in Economics taught by HSE in St. Petersburg successfully passed accreditation by ICAEW, a prestigious British association of accountants.
ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) is an international association of accountants, which has over 140,000 members in 160 countries. It is the only association of accountants that takes part in the annual World Economic Forum in Davos. ICAEW members are highly motivated and high-achieving people who have got ACA qualification. 84% companies in the FTSE index have an ICAEW member accountant on their board.
In addition to international recognition of the programme in Economics, ICAEW accreditation means that the results of the courses taken by students in this programme, will be recognized with a first-level ICAEW certificate.
Varvara Nazarova, Associate Professor at the HSE Campus in St. Petersburg Department of Finance, coordinator of the ICAEW accreditation at HSE
‘ICAEW qualification will allow our students to ensure their knowledge is in line with key global trends in finance and management.
For me, preparing programmes and documents for the accreditation was extremely interesting. It helped me to look at our courses from a new perspective, to consider how they can be expanded and improved, particularly the courses in taxation and corporate finance. ICAEW programmes are shaped so that students gradually become immersed in the course and get a complete range of knowledge in terms of business administration, management, financial strategy development, and the choice of optimal mode of accounting and taxation. ICAEW representatives offer comprehensive support in terms of textbooks, cases, tasks and bottom line courses. I hope that as we add ICAEW qualification elements in our courses, they will be even more practice-oriented, thrilling and useful for our students.
The bachelor’s programme in Economics taught by HSE in St. Petersburg is also accredited by АССА (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).
