‘Top Managers, Business Owners, and Founders of Startups Apply to HSE Online Master's Programmes’
On April 1, HSE University opens applications for 18 full-time online master's programmes with a focus on digital technologies and in-demand subject areas. Online programmes provide an opportunity to learn from the academic community and industry experts while combining remote studies with work and family responsibilities.
The successful launch of Russia's first English-language online Master of Data Science in 2020 has become a driver for the development of HSE's digital portfolio. In 2023, HSE University enters the higher education market with 21 bachelor's and master's programmes. Today, more than 1,500 students are enrolled in 16 online programmes. HSE University’s digital bachelor's and master's programmes enrol the largest number of students in Russia. Interest in online programmes is growing: 958 applicants became digital students at HSE University in 2022—56% more than in 2021. Online students from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, India, the USA, Canada, China, Japan, Germany, the UK, Switzerland and other countries study on digital programmes.
Each online degree programme focuses on training highly qualified workers for the public and corporate sector, so the tracks are designed according to demand and with the participation of key employers. HSE University trains specialists in computer vision, the implementation and development of complex information systems, data science, machine learning and data-intensive systems, business analysis, finance, design, legal tech, applied social psychology, and other in-demand fields.
Business partners and industry leaders conduct live sessions with students in the format of laboratories, workshops, networking, mastermind groups, and case championships. In real time, students solve relevant professional tasks under the supervision of industry experts. By updating their graduation portfolio with implemented projects, online graduates gain a significant advantage when applying for jobs. Graduates of HSE online master's programmes work in leading companies: SBER, Alfa-Bank, Yandex, NLMK, Wildberries, Kinopoisk, VK, OZON, Avito, Tinkoff, etc.

Digital higher education not only provides an unprecedented opportunity to combine study and work without taking a break in career development, but also makes the process of choosing your future major more flexible. Before deciding to invest time and money in higher education, an applicant can try out the content of online programmes in open specialisations that are integrated into the curricula of digital master's programmes. Nine online specialisations comprise bundles of courses (from 3 to 7), which are completed in a final project that can only be implemented if the applicant successfully completes all the courses.
Specialisations help students focus on a specific area of competence and provide a microdegree confirmed by an HSE certificate. Applicants can also take part in intensive courses, bootcamps, webinars and meetups with teachers.
The website of HSE e-Learning Office features interviews with academic supervisors of digital programmes and online students. HSE On the Line audio podcasts are available on Yandex Music, and video interviews are posted on the HSE Online YouTube channel. There is also a dedicated Telegram channel and VK group for HSE’s online programmes.
